Careers / Apprentice technician

01 Part-time or full-time

Apprentice technician

Lubbock. Up to $20 an hour.

02 The work

This job is pulling cable, moving equipment, and keeping the trucks and closets in shape. You'd ride with a field tech until you can handle a run on your own. Pay is up to $20 an hour. Part-time and full-time are both open.

A lot of the day is physical. That's the honest version. What you get back is a shop that will actually teach you, not drop you on a ticket queue and disappear. Small crew. Owner in the office.

03 Your first few months
  1. 90.01

You're in the shop and the trucks, learning how we leave a closet and how a job is supposed to look when we walk out.

  2. 90.02

You're pulling cable and showing up on jobs. Write down what you did so the next person isn't guessing.

  3. 90.03

We can send you as extra hands. You'll have a clear picture of what a field tech's day actually is.

03b Where this can go

The next job here is field technician. That's $20 an hour and up. You'd take tickets, cable a building, and have one thing you're known for. That job isn't posted right now. This one is how people get there, and we'll teach toward it.

04 The practical stuff

You need a driver's license. The work has ladders, crawl spaces, lifting, and driving around Lubbock. Shop work or a trade counts. A cert is fine if you have one. This job pays up to $20 an hour, so if that number doesn't work, this isn't the one.

Most days are daytime, either here or at a customer's building. Sometimes something breaks after hours.
